Our Purpose
Public art with a lasting purpose.
Art in shared spaces can inspire curiosity, preserve stories, and deepen our understanding of the places and people around us.
We envision communities where public art is accessible, cultural stories are respected, and creative expression becomes a lasting resource for future generations.
The Foundation is being established to support the creation, preservation, interpretation, and public appreciation of artworks that serve charitable and educational purposes. Its planned activities emphasize Indigenous cultural heritage, stewardship, education, and meaningful community participation.

The Artist Behind the Name
Inspired by the work of James Madison.
James Madison is a Tulalip artist whose sculptures and public installations draw on Coast Salish heritage while embracing contemporary forms and materials.
Working across wood, glass, bronze, and metal, his artistic practice demonstrates how public art can carry cultural stories into spaces where people gather, learn, and connect.
The Foundation is a separate nonprofit organization with its own charitable and educational purposes. James Madison’s existing body of artwork provides artistic context and inspiration; it should not be confused with projects completed by the Foundation.
